1. Agreement

These terms are between you and Isocode Labs, who run CVBuddy at cvbuddy.isocodelabs.com. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not, do not use the service.

2. We are not the institute

CVBuddy is made by two students at IIT Kharagpur, and it is independent. It is not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by IIT Kharagpur, its Career Development Centre, or any placement body. Nothing here is an official channel, and using this tool gives you no standing in any placement process.

We follow the CDC formatting conventions as we understand them, and we try to keep up when they change. We cannot promise that our interpretation is current or complete. The version that counts is the one you submit to the ERP, and checking it is your job.

3. Your account

• You need a valid IIT Kharagpur roll number to register. One account per person.
• Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• Do not register on someone else's behalf or with someone else's roll number.
• Tell us at cvbuddy@isocodelabs.com if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.

4. Your content is yours

You keep every right in the CV content you write. You give us only the permission needed to run the service: to store your content, show it back to you, sync it across your devices, and pass the relevant part to an AI provider when you ask for formatting or advice. That permission ends when you delete the content.

You confirm that what you enter is accurate and yours to enter. Fabricating achievements is between you and your placement cell, but do not use our tool to do it.

5. The AI features

The formatter and advisor use third-party language models. They are useful and they are also fallible: they can misread context, drop nuance, alter meaning, or produce confident nonsense.

Read every AI-generated change before you keep it. Suggestions are suggestions. We are not responsible for the content of a CV you submitted without reading, and we make no claim about placement outcomes.

If you supply your own API key, your use of that provider is governed by your agreement with them, and their charges are yours.

6. Paid plans and credits

• Some features consume credits. Current plans, prices and credit costs are shown on the pricing page and may change; changes are not applied retrospectively to credits you already hold.
• Payments are processed by Razorpay. Prices are in Indian rupees.
• Credits are for use within CVBuddy. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred between accounts, and are not exchangeable for money.
• Refunds: if you were charged in error, or a paid feature failed and left you out of pocket, write to cvbuddy@isocodelabs.com within 7 days and we will look at it in good faith. Credits already spent on successful AI operations are not refundable, because the cost was incurred on your behalf.

7. Fair use

Do not:

• Automate, scrape or hammer the service, or work around the rate limits.
• Resell access, or run the service on someone else's behalf.
• Upload malware, or content that is unlawful, defamatory or infringes someone else's rights.
• Probe, reverse engineer or attempt to reach another user's data.
• Impersonate anyone, including us.

If you find a security problem, please report it through the bug channel rather than exploiting it — we would genuinely rather hear from you.

8. The browser extension

The extension fills fields on the IIT Kharagpur ERP on your behalf. You remain responsible for what is submitted through your own ERP session, and for complying with the ERP's own rules. Review the filled fields before you save them there.

9. Availability

We offer no uptime guarantee. The service may be unavailable for maintenance, provider outages, or reasons outside our control, and placement season is exactly when load is highest. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose — export the PDF.

10. Liability

CVBuddy is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and specifically not for a missed application, a rejected CV, a formatting error that reached the ERP, or any placement outcome.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or ₹1,000. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Ending things

You can stop using CVBuddy and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why and give you a chance to export your content first.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above and surfaced in the app. If you keep using the service afterwards, the updated terms apply.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of West Bengal have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
